Winnie's 5th Grade Clap-Out

Winnie had a fun time on her last day of fifth grade. Her principal had so many great things to say about the kindness and responsibility of the first-ever Shale Meadows graduating class. The 5th graders enjoyed a bubble truck, indoor activities (it rained!), Cane's, Kona Ice, and the clap-out. Winnie got a little emotional, and Doc and I were there to celebrate and support her.

The girls went to the Quattman's annual party, and then Winnie stayed over with Lydia.

Dinner with Grandma and Grandpa

Thank you to Grandma and Grandpa for a fun time at El Vaquero and Blue Limestone. It sure is good seeing Grandma walking and getting out of the house!

First Anniversary of Gotcha Day

Tego has been part of our family for a whole year!

OVR Tournament

13 Emerald did great at the last tournament of the season. It's so fun to watch them when they are up against similarly skilled teams. They won against Miami Valley Phoenix (lost set 1, won set 2 with a final return from Kit, and won set 3 with Kit's serves being a significant factor). Then they lost again Puma. Their third game was against Spirit, and they won set one (Kit's final serves!) and set two. In bracket play, they came so close but lost both sets against the Bullets.

Thank You, Grandma Jo

A big thank you to Grandma Jo for staying over a couple of nights to see Kit's choir concert, allow Seth and me to get away, and watch Kit's volleyball practice. Now Emerson's favorite line is "Oh, honey!"

Hocking Hills

A very special thank you to Grandma Jo for staying with the kids so we could hit the trail! We hiked 5.5 hours on Thursday at Hocking Hills and an hour on Friday at the Buckeye Trail at Lake Logan.

Hyatts Choir Concert

Grandma Jo, Emerson, and I had fun watching Kit's choir concert at Hyatts. Songs included "The Climb," "Revolution," "Wake Me Up," "Light in the Hallway," and "Over the Rainbow."

Final Celebration at Bright Beginnings

On Wednesday, Bright Beginnings presented "Joyful Noise," a delightful performance of songs and a memory verse. Emerson said goodbye to Ms. Sara and Ms. Amy. They gave us a keepsake scrapbook of this year's preschool memories.

Winnie's Donation

I'm so proud of Winnie for reaching her goal of letting her hair grow long enough to donate. She kept squealing with delight and playing with the new length. We sent off the beautiful ponytails to Locks of Love.

Elyria Volleyball Tournament

Kit and her team had a great time playing volleyball in Elyria. They were up against American teams - tough competition! I was so glad they got a win during bracket play on Sunday.

Little Slugger

This season of tee-ball is so fun to watch. Emerson seems to be loving every moment of it.

Mina & Emerson

Mina and Emerson got in a lot of playtime this week... Good thing because sadly, her family will be relocating to Austin.

Winnie Helps Host Art Show

I'm proud of Winnie for volunteering to be a host at the Shale Meadows art show. She stepped outside of her comfort level :) We took Sarah along with us, and I bet everyone thought they are sisters.

Mother's Day

I enjoyed Mother's Day! The girls sent texts when they woke up. The boys and I went to church and North Star Cafe, and then the girls came back. We did a little shopping and got annuals. All of us spent lots of time outside - it was a beautiful day!

District Championship

Winnie did great at the District Championship held at Berlin High School. She placed fourth on beam, fourth on floor, and seventh all-around. Grandma Jo, Doc, Kit, Emerson, and I enjoyed watching her do her thing! Special thanks to her coaches and other parents for the extra-special goody bags that included a leotard.
