Last Full Day in NC

We enjoyed our last full day at Mountain Air, including swimming twice, checking out local vendors near the green (geared for older ladies!), working out, and hiking.

Zipline Adventure

We went to the Adventure Center of Asheville, and the kids and Seth did a zipline course with 9 ziplines that ranged from 50 feet to 250 feet long. Brave kids! We selected this particular course because Emerson could do it with a parent escort. Kit ended up being a big sister to a boy who was having some trouble with the course.

Then we enjoyed seeing downtown Asheville and eating at Rosetta's Kitchen (all vegan!).

Waterfall

We walked significant inclines to check out a waterfall on the grounds of Mountain Air. Unfortunately, the trail near it is closed due to erosion.

The Great Outdoors

The morning included more hiking, "building a fire," and feeding the turtle at the nature center.

Time Together

Another fun day on the mountain! Emerson, Seth, and I went for a hike. Kit and I worked out together in the fitness center. A butterfly landed on Winnie's booty. The girls didn't have their flip flops for showering in the locker room and improvised with shower caps. Tego took a ride with us to town to restock groceries.

Mountain Views

The views from the Mountain Air grounds are phenomenal. It's so relaxing to look out at the Blue Ridge Mountains. We look up and down to see clouds rolling by, and it's like we're living in a luxurious treehouse for the week.

Abundant Butterflies

Today Emerson and I got dad out on the trail and got to explore longer than expected :)

Kit and I took a yoga class and did cardio on machines. Everyone was so friendly.

We all visited the nature center, hung out at the pool, had a poolside dinner (with some dancing), and dropped into the game room.

There are so many butterflies here, especially around the hot tub and pool area. Winnie got one to land on her finger. We've learned that North Carolina is home to 175 species of butterflies. We've been seeing blue butterflies, and I think they're Eastern-tailed Blues and Summer Azures.

Hiking at Mountain Air

Mountain Air has eight trails, and the kids and I explored the creekside trails near Cabins at Creekside. We didn't see any bears, but we found interesting fungi, trees, streams, and rocks.

North Carolina - Day One

We had a pretty smooth road trip to Burnsville, North Carolina, arriving around 2:30. Mountain Air is a golf resort community of 400 homes and top-notch amenities. The mountain views and landscapes are absolutely beautiful.
