Let's Go to the Movies!

Today Kit and Winnie went to the movies for the first time! We went to the Strand Theatre in Delaware to see Despicable Me 2, which was playing to benefit the local WIC program. It was so much fun watching Kit laugh. Winnie's favorite part was the popcorn.

Make It Monday: Hair Ties

This was the perfect craft for Kitster since it's about time for her to learn to tie shoes.

Strawberry Goodness

Kit helped me make a strawberry pie, and Winnie helped whip up some strawberry-banana ice cream.

Bunk Beds

It took 4 straight hours of work, but we assembled the girls' bunk beds for their new, shared room. The ladder will have to wait until Sunday. Kit and Winnie were so happy! I was just a little sad to no longer have a kiddo in a crib :)

Strawberry Pickin'

We made it to Crum's just in time on Saturday, the final day for picking strawberries.

Second Week of Swim Lessons

The girls participated in a second and final week of swim lessons. Winnie really got into it this week!

Make It Monday: Necklaces

At Kit's request, we made necklaces today. We cut shapes from a cereal box, punched holes, decorated the tabs, and used a ribbon to tie it altogether.

Rafting on the Mohican River

With love and appreciation for Doc this Father's Day, we went to Loudonville to raft on the Mohican River. The girls loved the rafting, and they were also excited to ride the bus back to our car.

Return of the Ice Cream Truck

The girls' friend Nova was over playing when joy of joys, we heard the ice cream truck coming!

Peace Community 5K

On Saturday, the girls and Grandma Lovie cheered me on to my personal best of 23:04 in the Peace Community 5K. I placed first in the women's division, but the competition wasn't as fierce as previous years. Kit and Winn also had fun playing games, making name jewelry, and having lunch with friends.

Swim Lessons at Mingo Pool

The girls participated in week 1 of 2 swim lessons at Mingo Pool this week. Kit was all-in while Winnie was more reserved.

Make It Monday: Frozen Capes

If there's anything better than watching Frozen, it's acting out the scenes wearing a glittery cape!

Kindergarten, Here Kit Comes!

Today Kit had her kindergarten screening. She surprised even me with her perfect score on the math portion, and she was also great with letters and sounds. Her hearing was just fine, and as we already know, her vision is somewhat limited (primarily the left eye). She was delighted to receive a backpack with educational goodies. 

Winnie was feeling left out of the fun, but we reminded her that her turn is coming and preschool will start before she knows it.

Hanging with the Carlisles

We spent time with the Carlisle family on Saturday night. Kit made a special gift for all 8 family members. Nathaniel taught Kit how to make a paper bag puppet, and Cecilia baked us a pie. In case you're counting, the group shot includes the 6 Carlisle kids and a neighbor friend.

Today the girls made purses from a FedEx envelope.

Beach & Boating

Sunday was the perfect day for Delaware State Park Lake and Beach. We went in Big Grandpa's boat for the first time of the season, and Seth tried his hand at the wheel. Kit was an enthusiastic swimmer at the beach, and Winnie was an equally enthusiastic builder in the sand.
