Good Friday

We had Good Friday off from school, and I only worked a few hours. The weather was gorgeous, so we got outside to soak up some sunshine. In the afternoon, we dyed Easter eggs (always a colorful mess!), and later the kids and I went to see the Minecraft movie. Cue "Steve’s Lava Chicken" (song)!

Catching Up with the Yarns & Rodes

We had a great time catching up with the Yarns and Rodes! The Yarns were in Ohio for a college visit to OSU and to celebrate Easter. We’re lucky to run into the Rodes since we're all Berlin Bears, and it was extra fun having everyone together. The kids had a blast!

Shale Meadows Art Show

We had a great time at the Shale Meadows art show, especially seeing Emerson’s creations on display. It was so cool to see how many of the artworks lit up under black lights (like the last piece here by Emerson).

Emerson's a Heggerty Hero

We’re so proud of Emerson for earning the Heggerty Hero award! He has been working incredibly hard on reading & paying attention in class.

Easter Fun at The Inn

Dad and Emerson went to The Inn where Nana lives to enjoy the Easter egg hunt for kids. They had quite the spread, a fun egg hunt (with some golden eggs!), and even a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Final Comp for Team Nitro

Winnie and Team Nitro wrapped up their last competition of the season in Sandusky—and they did awesome! Their hard work paid off with a pizza party prize to enjoy back at their gym.

Winnie is pictured with her “little sister” for the season, Mila—such a sweet bond they’ve built.

Great job, Team Nitro!

Ear Stitches

On Tuesday, the school nurse called me to pick up Emerson. He had fallen on the merry-go-round (maybe the edge?) and cut his ear.

I took him to Nationwide Children’s, and luckily, he had a great experience. A tall, friendly male nurse kept things light and made Emerson feel comfortable while he got four stitches.

The only real downside is that it’s delaying the start of soccer season—but we’re glad he’s okay and on the mend.

Monster Jam

Seth, Emerson, and I had a blast at Monster Jam at the Schottenstein Center.

The monster trucks were just as loud, powerful, and impressive as you'd imagine—balancing feats, soaring through the air, and leaving us cheering. But it wasn’t just the trucks that stole the show. The motocross riders took things to the next level with high-flying flips and tricks.

Emerson is already counting down the days until next year’s event.

Happy 4th Birthday to Tego

After our spring break adventures, Tego was happy to be back home—just in time for his fourth birthday! We celebrated with a heartfelt rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ and a special treat: cinnamon toast.

Spring Break 2025, Part Two

Part two of our spring break adventure took us to Maumee Bay State Park Lodge—in a cozy cabin! We spotted deer, hiked scenic trails, and made the most of the lodge’s amenities, from the pool and sauna to indoor beachball volleyball. We also enjoyed card games (Golf, of course!), watching shows, and simply unwinding.

Spring Break 2025, Part One

We kicked off our spring break family adventure on Wednesday, starting with a stop in Sandusky at the Pancake House—definitely a highlight! Afterward, we stretched our legs with a walk in the park before checking into Castaway Bay. Bonus points to Winnie for being such a trooper, even though she wasn’t feeling her best!

Seth, Emerson, and I kicked off spring with a refreshing hike and some stone skipping at Shale Hollow.

Kit’s Official Second Day at Glenross

Kit wrapped up her second day at Glenross Golf Club! Monday was technically her first, but she blipped over a text and didn’t realize it until the last minute — which meant she was late. Bet that won’t happen again!

She’s working as a server and dishwasher at the banquet hall right around the corner from us. Here’s to smooth sailing from here on out — and checking those texts next time!

Tumbling into Fun

We had Grandma and Grandpa over for a visit, and the kids were lively as usual. They put on a little show with tumbling and roughhousing.

GMCE Spring Fling

Winnie and her Nitro team shined at the GMCE Spring Fling, earning an excellent rating for their performance! She’s pictured alongside her "twinnie" Sarah and team friend Posey, all smiles after nailing their routine. One of the highlights was incorporating a "cradle" into their cheer routine, which turned out fantastic!

Between the competition and the award ceremony, we had fun hanging out at a cozy coffee/brunch spot. On the way home, we made a couple of spontaneous stops in Plain City with Becky and Sarah.

Sightseeing in Pittsburgh

On Saturday, we visited the University of Pittsburgh’s Student Union and the breathtaking Cathedral of Learning before making an unexpected but memorable stop at St. Paul Cathedral—where we (respectfully) crashed Joe’s funeral, an experience the kids won’t forget! Before hitting the road, we enjoyed a delicious meal at Pastoli’s Pizza, Pasta & Paisans. Their vegan veggie pizza was fantastic, and the kids loved their picks, too.
