Kit's Jr. Homecoming

Simon made it back to Ohio from Detroit just in time to shower and get ready for homecoming photos with Kit at Orange Township Hall Park. It was especially kind of his parents to drive him back, knowing he had to be up at 4:00 a.m. on Sunday to return to Detroit for another hockey game.

Before Simon arrived, Kit took photos with her girlfriends. Friend (previous YL leader) Jamie even stepped in to help since I had to be at Winnie’s photos. It was such a gift to have her there.

After pictures, Simon and Kit went to dinner at SeƱor Antonio’s, where an anonymous diner generously paid their bill—a surprise kindness that made the evening even more memorable. They danced at the homecoming dance (really danced!), then ended the night at an after-party, playing Imposter around the fire.

Winnie's First Homecoming

Winnie enjoyed her very first homecoming with friends Khloe and Brianna. Before the dance, the girls gathered at The Ohioan Hotel & Event Center (formerly Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center) for photos. Brianna’s dad, Cory, proved to be quite the creative director (he's a high-ranking Marine), guiding the girls into poses.

After pictures, they headed to Brio for dinner, where Winnie happily devoured all of a margarita pizza. By the time they arrived at the school, she was relieved to make it to the restroom just in time.

At the dance, Carter surprised her with a bouquet of flowers, which proved to be a weapon with which Winnie accidentally stabbed people. Winnie and her friends all agreed homecoming was a great time, even if it was a little hot on the dance floor.

HOCO Blooms and Bouquets

Kit, Winnie, Khloe, and Brianna had a great time picking out flowers and creating beautiful bouquets for HOCO. From choosing the blooms to arranging them just right, it was a fun way to kick off the celebration.

Homecoming Victory

The BHS football team came out on top in their homecoming game against Hilliard Darby High School, winning 17–7. The night was filled with school spirit, and the girls had fun with the red, white, and blue theme.

Shale Meadows Fun Run

Dad joined in at this year’s Shale Meadows Fun Run, a PTO fundraiser packed with energy. The event featured a lively DJ spinning fun music, an inflatable start-and-finish arch, fitness challenges like push-up and plank stations, and a perfect ending with the kids' favorite song—“Waka Waka.”

BHS Powder Puff Game

Kit suited up for the Powder Puff football game, a homecoming week tradition, playing linebacker (yes, really!). The sophomores came out strong and took down her junior team, eventually winning the whole competition. After she was done, we all headed to Sticky Fingers.

Better Late Than Never: Kit’s Choir Letter

Kit (finally!) received her choir letter—something she had actually earned last year through her dedication at BHS. We're so glad she's part of the excellent program, led by the beloved Mr. S.

Strong Defense, First Win

Emerson had a standout soccer game on Saturday! He was on defense and kept the ball from getting past him — and it was against the infamous Charlie's team with the "Yelling Mom Coach" that intimidates us all! Dad's team celebrated their very first win, and to top it off, Emerson earned a medal for good sportsmanship.

A Wicked HOCO Proposal

With Winnie’s help, Simon dropped Kit off at the house after the game like usual — but then, surprise! He came right back with a homecoming proposal she never saw coming. It was Wicked-ly perfect!

Early September Highlights

September has started off with lots of good moments!

Kit is enjoying the DACC healthcare program with her classmates. She and Simon went to the Liberty football game together, which was fun despite the Bears' loss.

Emerson saw the Clippers with Luke and had dinner with friends at the corner. He also decorated his sketchbook, inspired by The Mitchells vs. The Machines.

Winnie and I took Nana to Emerson’s soccer game. It was a nice way to enjoy the warm afternoon.
